Francis Marion Hodges was appointed Sheriff by the Yuma County Board of Supervisors on July 12, 1880, to fill the vacancy upon the resignation of Andrew Tyner. Having been appointed by county supervisors, Hodges ran for Sheriff in the November 2, 1880 election.
On June 7, 1881, Hodges resigned as Sheriff of Yuma County. The Yuma County Board of Supervisors immediately appointed Andrew Tyner to fill the vacancy for Hodges’ unexpired term.
