Public Records & Report Requests

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Records Department manages and maintains public law enforcement records originated by the department. Any person may request copies of a public record or report in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes §39-121.01.

Arizona Revised Statute § 39-121.03 prohibits the use of public records for commercial purposes.


Obtaining Copies of Public Records & Reports

All requests for public records or reports must be submitted on a YCSO Public Records/Report Request Form. Requests may be submitted in person, by mail, and in some instances via email. NOTE: You must include a copy of your picture identification along with the Public Records/Report Request Form. Picture identification will also be required at the time of pick up.

Requests are processed in the order they are received and/or based on the availability of the records/report requested.

Please allow 15 to 20 business days for your request to be processed. Requests for larger, more extensive reports may take longer to process. You will be contacted by Records personnel with the total cost when your report is available for pick up. To check the status of your request, contact the Records Department at (928) 329-2254.


Type of Records & Reports

Most reports are available 14 business days after the date the report was taken by an officer. Following are the various types reports available:
  • Incident Reports: Most incident reports are non-criminal in nature such as noise disturbances, information received, etc.
  • Case Reports: Case reports involve criminal incidents such as assaults, thefts, burglaries, auto thefts, etc.
  • Adult Arrest Record: Citizens wishing to obtain a copy of their arrest record and/or booking photo must complete and submit a “Public Records/Report Request Form”. A “Letter of Incarceration” is available upon request. There is no fee for a certified letter.
  • Traffic Accident Reports: Traffic accident reports pertain to any collision involving a motorized vehicle. NOTE: The completion of traffic accident reports will vary depending on the type of accident, i.e., non-injury, injury, fatal, DUI, etc. You may contact the Records Department at (928) 329-2254 to check on report availability.

Examining or receiving copies of accident reports/public records for commercial solicitation is prohibited by Arizona Revised Statute 28-667.

Summary of ARS § 28-667:
Arizona Revised Statute §28-667 prohibits examining or receiving copies of accident reports for commercial solicitation. “Commercial solicitation means a request for an accident report at a time when there is no relationship between the person or the principle of the person requesting the accident report and any party involved in the accident and there is not reason for the person to request the report other than for the purposes of soliciting a business or commercial relationship.”

*Reports, letters and photo/audio/video CDs to be mailed require a postage fee.

Types of payment accepted at Records Department: Cash, personal check, money order, and cashier’s check. Checks should be made payable to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office.

NOTE: Credit/debit card (Visa & MasterCard only) payments are accepted in the Civil Department; however, there is a convenience fee which varies depending on the amount charged and credit/debit card used. We do not accept American Express.
