Delinquent Personal Property Taxes
The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for the collection of all delinquent, unsecured personal property taxes for Yuma County.
Tax Payment Due Dates
Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S) 42-18052 provides payment due dates and a schedule outlining when personal property taxes become delinquent. Property taxes are normally paid in two (2) installments; the first payment is due October 1st and the second payment is due March 1st. The October payment becomes delinquent after 5:00 PM on November 1st and the March payment becomes delinquent after 5:00 PM on May 1st. If the total amount of the tax is $100.00 or less, the full amount is due on October 1st, and becomes delinquent after 5:00 PM on November 1st.
Making Payments
The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office accepts full payment for delinquent personal property accounts in person, by mail or telephone.

Tax payments can be made via telephone in the form of credit card, debit card or check (personal or business account accepted). Service fees are applicable as follows:
- Debit Card: $3.95
- Check by Phone: $1.00
- Credit Card: service fee is a percentage depending on amount owed.
Important to Know
We do not accept payment for real property accounts. Real property accounts are handled by the Yuma County Treasurer’s Office at 2550 S. 4th Avenue, Suite A, Yuma, AZ 85364. The telephone number is (928) 539-7781.
Address changes, corrections to ownership information, and title transfers for manufactured homes and recreational vehicles that are not affixed to real property are done at the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) located at 2165 E Gila Ridge Road in Yuma. After the changes have been completed with MVD, contact the Yuma County Assessor’s Office to submit the updated information. The Assessor’s Office is located at 2550 S. 4th Avenue, Suite B, Yuma, AZ 85364. The telephone number is (928) 373-6040.
Types of Payment Accepted
Below are the various types of payments that are accepted at the YCSO Main Office and the Foothills Substation:
- YCSO Main Office: Payment may be made in the form of cash (in person only), personal check, money order, cashier’s check, and credit/debit card. NOTE: Credit/debit card (Visa/MasterCard only) payments are accepted; however, there is a convenience fee which varies depending on the amount charged and credit/debit card used. We do not accept American Express.
- Foothills Substation: Cash (in person only), personal check, money order, and cashier’s check.
Checks or money orders should be made payable to the “Yuma County Treasurer”.
When making a payment, it is very important that you include your Account Number on all correspondence.
Seizure & Sale of Property for Non-Payment of Taxes

42-19109,
42-19110 allows for the seizure and sale of personal property necessary to pay the delinquent taxes, interest, and costs associated with the process. Taxes are considered delinquent and property considered eligible for seizure after the second installment is past due, May 2nd. Seized property will be sold at public auction to the highest bidder to pay taxes owed.
Sale Information
Once property has been seized, and is available for auction,
A.R.S. 42-19111 requires notices of sales to be posted within the County. The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office posts notices at the following locations:

Seized property eligible for sale is sold at the location at which it is stored. The “Notice of Sale” documentation will outline the specific location of the sale.
In accordance with A.R.S. 42-19111, the Sheriff’s Office shall not sell seized property until three (3) weeks after the notice is served on the property owner.
