Lieutenant Tristan Gomez joined the Sheriff’s Office as a Detention Officer in September 2002. During his first two years with the Detention Bureau, Gomez rotated through various custody levels within the jail to include Maximum Security Units, Booking area, Master Control and as Internal Transport team leader. In January 2007, Gomez was assigned as a Classification Officer within the Detention Bureau’s Support Section. On November 30, 2008, Gomez was promoted to the rank of Corporal and was rotated back to the Detention Bureau’s Custody Section as a first line supervisor.

On March 18, 2012, he promoted to the rank of Sergeant and his duties expanded as a supervisor on the Custody Section’s Afternoon shift. In October 2012, Gomez was assigned to the Detention Bureau’s Support Section as the supervisor of the Classification, Grievances, Programs, Visitation, Educational Services, and Custodial Sections. During this assignment, Gomez assembled and supervised two additional sections—the Classification Custody Section and the Detention Investigations Section. Gomez was awarded the Professional of the Year Award in 2014.

On April 26, 2015, Gomez was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. From 2015 to present, Lieutenant Gomez has been assigned to every section of the Detention Bureau.

Lieutenant Gomez completed the Arizona Western College Super Managers course in 2016 and Arizona State University Bob Ramsey Certified Public Manager course in 2017.
