Captain Jason Amon joined the Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff on October 21, 2002 after serving 8 years as a Military Policeman and Criminal Investigator in the United States Marine Corps, finishing his military service as a Sergeant. Amon served as a Deputy Sheriff until he was assigned to the Community Oriented Policing (C.O.P.) Unit from February 2004 until July 2005. Amon was awarded the Meritorious Service Award in 2004.
On April 5, 2009, Amon was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Foothills District as a Patrol Supervisor. In March 2010, Amon was assigned as the Administrative Investigator of the Office of Professional Responsibility.
On July 5, 2015, Amon was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned as the West side Patrol Supervisor. In January 2016, Amon was assigned as the Commander of the Criminal Investigations Bureau and Yuma County Narcotics Task Force. In addition, Amon supervised the Office of Professional Responsibility, the YCSO Volunteer Units, the Crisis Management Unit and the Special Response Team. Amon attended and successfully completed the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Class 267 in March 2017 in Quantico, Virginia.
On January 1, 2020, Amon was assigned as the West side Patrol Supervisor and also continued to supervise the Office of Professional Responsibility, the Crisis Management Unit and the Special Response Team.
On March 21, 2021, Amon was promoted to the rank of Captain where he assumed command and responsibility for all Law Enforcement operations within the Sheriff’s Office.
Captain Amon is married with 3 children.
