On Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 10:55 a.m., Yuma County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle non injury collision involving a YCSO volunteer unit at the intersection of South Frontage Road and South Fortuna Road.
The vehicles involved were a white 1998 Dodge sedan and a white 2006 Ford Crown Victoria YCSO fully marked patrol unit. The YCSO vehicle was traveling east on South Frontage Road at South Fortuna Road. The Dodge sedan was northbound on South Fortuna Road. The Dodge sedan failed to stop at the red light on South Fortuna Road at South Frontage Road and collided with the marked unit in the intersection.
The Dodge was being operated by Ms. Katie Choate, a 20 year old female from Yuma, Arizona. The driver refused medical attention.
The YCSO Crown Victoria was occupied by Volunteer Charles Hennings. Volunteer Hennings refused medical attention on scene.The driver of the Dodge was cited for Failure to stop at a red light. Alcohol appears not to be a factor.
