Missing Adult

Location of Incident: San Bernardino County, CA

On January 4, 2014 at approximately 5:40 p.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office in reference to the ongoing search of Mr. Laurence J. “Jack” Doering.  The vehicle Mr. Doering was last known to be driving had been located in a desert area northwest of Parker, AZ inside the state of California. Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office recovered the vehicle, which had a flat tire and a dead battery, inside a wash. It is unknown how long the vehicle has been in this area; however, SBCSO said it had extensive water damage.

On January 5th, SBCSO deployed a search and rescue team, along with air support to search the area for Mr. Doering. Unfortunately, after an extensive search of the area no signs of Mr. Doering were found. Mr. Doering’s wife has been notified of the update.

GPS coordinates of where the vehicle was found were N 34 9 51 and W 114 24 23.

The Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a missing adult resident of the Foothills.  Mr. Laurence J. “Jack” Doering is an 82 year old white male, 6’01” 170lbs, with grey hair and blue eyes.  He was reportedly last seen at the Foothills Plaza shopping center at South Frontage and Foothills Blvd. at approximately 0945.  Mr. Doering is believed to be driving a tan/grey 2002 Chevrolet Surburban with Idaho registration plates.  He was seen headed South on Foothills Blvd towards his residence but never arrived. Mr. Doering does not normally drive but left his wife behind.

Mr. Doering is believed to suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and may be confused or lost.  The Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Mr. Doering so he may be returned home safely.
